Antwerp Zoo & Fuji x100t

January 22, 2015

Last weekend we celebrated my husband’s birthday with a trip to the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium. It was our first time visiting Belgium despite it being only and hour and a half drive from our house. I am really starting to love and appreciate how close we are to so many amazing cities. The zoo in Antwerp is one of the oldest in the world and located in the city’s center. Since I grew up with the World Famous San Diego Zoo in my backyard, I have pretty high standards when it comes to zoos. This one did not disappoint! We went on a cold Monday in January and as you can probably imagine, we had the zoo basically to ourselves. They were in the process of taking down their Chinese Lights display, but we did get to see some of the beautiful displays before they were all packed up. Silas really loved the primates, the aquarium and reptile house so we spent a lot of time at those exhibits. Three hours later, we were pretty hungry and went on the hunt for fresh Belgian waffles! So so so good. Everyone should eat one before they die. Seriously. They were that good.

I also only brought my Fuji x100t with me and I have finally fallen deeply in love with it. There is no way I would have been able to carry my DSLR with me for the five hours we were walking around. It took a little bit of getting used to at first because it is laid out much differently than my Nikon, but it’s an amazing little camera and perfect for taking out of the house. From here on out, my traveling adventures will be documented with the Fuji and Mr. Nikon will stay at home.
